The Winthrop Game Protective League was incorporated on July 24, 1959 as a corporation to educate it's memebers and people about the importance of conservation of all natural resources. To hold competitive and non-competitive events in target and trap shooting, skeet and archery. Also to promote safety by teaching Gun Safety training, ATV safe operating class and the spirit of good sportsmanship.
Winthrop Game Protective League (WGPL) is a nonprofit organization, managed and operated by volunteer members. It is a private shooting club open to the public.
All money raised from member dues, shooting fees, fund-raisers and club house rentals are reinvested back into the maintenance, improvements, taxes and insurance for the facility.
The club house at WGPL has a fully equipped kitchen and a dining area that seats around 125 people. This is an excellent area to host meetings, family reunions, etc.
WGPL is located northeast of Winthrop, Minnesota. There is an abundance of mature trees on the property with a lake nearby. This "setting" provides a "PARKLIKE" atmosphere and encourages a quiet and relaxing environment that is truly enjoyable to everyone.
